Today the Ghost Riders manager (me) was interviewed by the local newspaper Scottish CyclingNews about the formation of the team.
We decided to post part of the piece here so that ours fans and rivals can know a little more about the team.
Scottish CyclingNews: First of all, Mr. Blaze, what is this team's goal?
Andrew Blaze: I believe that we should set our goal as high as possible, so by taking that into account I can say that our biggest goal is to, one day, win one of the big classics with a scottish rider, our at least help developing that rider.
SCN: If one of your riders were to win a classic, which would you prefer?
Blaze: The Roubaix Classic, without a second thought.
SCN: Did you decide to set up the team's strategy yourself or did you ask for advices for other riders or managers?
Blaze: Dued to my inexperience I decided to get some tips from some former riders, right now former Roubaix Classic winners Sieuwerd Schimmel and Gerret Pluhator have been sharing their experience with me. Besides them I also received lots of support from scottish managers Rob and brendan.
SCN: Right now your team's biggest talent is Sam Velasquez, how far do you think he can go?
Blaze: Right now I think he is the only scottish rider that could be capable of winning the Roubaix Classic without being in a Break Away. But first he must train a lot and get tons of experience, only after that he can think about getting good results on that race.
SCN: Were you bluffing when you said that only the scottish riders would be trained?
Blaze: No, I wasn't bluffing. The team was created for the single purpose of developing scottish riders, so I don't see the point in spending our few resources in training riders from other nations.
Hope everyone enjoyed this little bit of information about the team.
See you out there,
Blaze
